Best online guitar lessons?

Click HERE to Visit Learn And Master Guitar

Hey, I’m looking for free beginner guitar lessons online as I haven’t found a good instructor. Till now, I’ve only come across garbage lessons that doesn’t fit a real beginner. Does anyone know any GOOD online resources, or books (ebooks preferably) that DOES NOT go on and on about the parts of a guitar and then suddenly jump into playing chords and tabbed music without any sort of explanation. I don’t want to learn tabs, so a down to earth explanation of musical notations would also a good addition.

Thanks in advance.

Slim,

I’ve played, gigged, and taught for many years on the side, so..

First, try http://www.wholenote.com- plenty of free lessons. Also, http://www.playguitarmagazine.com. Good resource for beginner guitarists.

Second, Lose the DVD’s and software- if you really want to play, find some group lessons at a local nonprofit community music school or community college. If there’s a four-year college near you with a music program, check it out- call the music department, and there are almost always students who’ll teach for a few bucks. You’re much better off there than the half-hour at the superstore from the hung-over metalhead who’s in between bands. The instructors at the music schools usually have degrees in the field, the lessons are usually less than what you’d pay at guitar center, and the advantage of group lessons is that since you are in with a group of students at about your ability, you can set up jam sessions outside of class. Remember – music is a social activity- if you’re sitting alone in your room, you probably won’t go very far- Good Luck!

PS- since you want to learn notation, try http://www.musictheory.net – good site for learning notation and enough theory to keep you going.
